You know...like every day up until now, the president-elect has been augurated, but tomorrow is having his auguration status revoked. He's having inaugurant applied to him.
I'm sure it's more like 'insure' or 'inflame', something that is happening, but even then, you never really hear what the word 'augurate' means. I mean 'sure' and 'flame' are real words, but...'augurate'?
Well, looking it up, it actually IS related to 'augury', though a few steps removed from fortunate-telling...I guess an augury used to be cast when a new leader was presented or something, thus...their inauguration.
...which means that the swearing in of a president is a frickin' pagan ritual! How do you like that! And given that it's usually done with a frickin' hand on the bible, well...that irony tickles me just a bit; I wonder what uber-religious types would think of that little tidbit.
Anyway...I, um...think about this stuff too hard. It's why you love me.
