*coughbackontopiccough*

1. Mrs. Bliss (my second grade teacher, I think): She's the reason I got into one of them fancy-smart-people schools which has influenced me more than anything in my life.

2. Jeffrey Masson (I've never met him, but he wrote this book called The Pig Who Sang to the Moon): even though I don't agree with everything in his book, it's what first got me interested in animal rights.

3. My parents (duh): besides all that genetic stuff, they've encouraged me to read everything and forced me to do my homework. I'd be an idiot without them.

Not exactly, the girl didn't get raped, fall in love with five guys, kill several children that were not really children, or jump out of a window and get her memory wiped.
You forgot about her quintuplet sisters that are in love with the same five men. :D

Oh darn. :-P

Anyway, have you ever read Animal Farm? I thought that was a good book ,if not exactly animal rights. Wells is one of my other influences.

It's an anti-Stalinist book written during the Cold War as a rather morbid play on the Soviets, yes. It's also a really good book in itself. I never did see the movie, and I doubt I'd like it as much.

(Best reference is how every group is represented in each character, such as the pigs or Boxer.)

They forced me to read it a few years ago in school. I liked 1984 better because it brings up the idea of controlling people's thoughts by controlling their language.

And do you mean Orwell?

I hear they wouldn't allow public schools in Florida to put 1984 in the libraries because of some hidden fear about the book's impact on students... Kinda scares me to think what they may have kept it out for.

1. Either they thought it wouldscare the students too greatly due to it's message.

Or...

2. The fear that it may change how teens will grow up, making them want to be over independant. Makes you wonder...

:ontopic: My greatest influences come from an eclectic mix of all the experiences I've taken in. It could be from small movies, videogames, people's teachings, and other morals out there. I can't really place my finger on what really has an impact on me.

I have a theory that they are the same person:

H. George Orwells.

They most certainly are not. I was being facetious. Orwell wrote fifty years after Wells. And, if I'm not mistaken, both of them were pseudonyms.

*leans over to knowledgable person*

What's facetious mean?

Crow T. Robot :wag:
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...
