Doctor Who
Moderator:Æron
Yes and no.

Very brief summary of the television. It started in 1963 with Season 1. Lasted until 1989 with Season 26. In 1996 a telemovie was transmitted. In 2005 Series (which in most cases is what the British term for season, but for some reason in the initial 26 season run was not the case) One was transmitted. They're currently making Series Two for transmission later this year, and have commissioned Series Three for next year.

Alternative names for Series One, Two and Three are Season 27, 28 and 29 respectively (though some refer to them as Series Two Season 1, 2 and 3, and I heard some smart allec suggest we refer to Seasons 1 to 26 as Season A-Z and call the current stuff Season 1, 2, 3, etc.)

So while it's overall (television) history is... Oh... 27 and a half seasons old, plus a hiatus, the new stuff is one and a half 'seasons' old.

I usually refer to Series One, Two, etc as Season 27, 28, etc, the first 26 seasons as The Old Series and the last however long it lasts as the New or Current or 2005+ Series, to save on confusion. For some reason I didn't in my first post in this topic.

EDIT - Of course, I've been responding assuming you misspelt Doctor Who there. If you actually mean a show called Dr. Who, I've never heard of it.

While Chris was great, judging by The Christmas Invasion only (and bear in mind that he's unconscious for about 40 minutes of the hour long special), David Tennant could easially wind up replacing Tom Baker as the definitive Doctor.

Now that the first two episodes have been transmitted in the US, what did you guys make of it?
And can I remind those Canadians and my fellow Brits that only the first two episodes have been transmitted in the US, just in case anyone doesn't want spoiles
