my computer is a peice of crap. It run's fine for a computer from 2003 or whenever I got it, but some of the hardware is not compatable with nearly any distrobution of any operating system than windows unless you feel like spending hours extra making it work.<br><br>...that's really all you need to know about it. I want to get a new laptop for christmas.

Not that I understand what all those abbreviations and numbers mean but, how do you get all the specs? Are they written somewhere in the computer?<br><br>Richard, when I saw your comment about laptops your avatar was miserable.png. Very apt for what you said.

An even better place to lookin Windows is "System Information", which usually resides somewhere like this:<br><br>Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information<br><br>And yes, I tend to agree. Linux is hard to get to work on laptops . . . there's almost always one more device driver to find, unless you're willing to use a big name company distro like SUSE.
