Never really been fond of the concept of Secret Santas. At best they cause a false generoisty and the extension of the cheapness of gift getting.

At worst they pressurise people into situations they can ill afford to be in, due to quite literal lack of funds. Plus the system within a grade school is highly manipulatable. As I say. I don't like the concept of secret santas.

As I said, however, it's one of the worst concepts ever, and only heightens how thaughtless and commercialised the process of gift-giving at Christmas has become.

I've done that in my class when I was 10. I thought it was a good idea. To me, it meant trying to know more about someone you wouldn't have bought a present for elsewhere. i actually became friends with the boy who was my secret santa, and gave me a small chess game. Nobody gave something expensive (the one he gave me was not only a travel version, but an old one). I was very happy with that gift. I gave a thing that you turn and there is snow falling, but one I built myself with a jam jar and a lego tree inside, and I don't remember all of it, but I was very happy with what I did. So was the person I gave it to.
