WEll in terms of the time it takes to read it. I went through the first time in 8 or 9 hours. From about midday to 10pm with breaks to go to the gym and cook dinner. So it would be possible to start at night and be done in a normal 8-hours sleep night.

I love the books. I used to be like Burning Sheep, and get turned off by the publicity.
I agree with Midnight Realism though, the movies interpret stuff differently than I do but thats the way with all movies based on books. The only time I haven't is with the BBC miniseries of Pride and Prejudice. The movies have been remarkably true to the books though, except with the moving staircases, they are supposed to have trick steps not move :-(
LLEWELLYN: And surely you've noticed that a great deal of what I do is extremely strange.

well, I haven't read them, but my sis that the steps were at least fairly accurate... although this could be like the "philosophers Stone" vs the "Sorcerers Stone".
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.
