I'm sad to say that I don't get it either.

The normal way is to have the first person say, "I'm going on a trip, and I'm taking an [noun that starts with A]." The next person repeats that and adds "and a [noun that starts with B]." The pattern continues until you've covered the alphabet in order. It's a game to challenge the players' memories.

O&M characters have played variants of this game many times. Once they did it with big-vocabulary words. Once they did it with made-up words. Once Millie simply declared she was taking "EVERYTHING!"

One day I considered the variant in the cartoon presented above. I came up with a figurative kind of "taking" for every letter.

Huh. I never really played games on long car trips.

I never played games in the car either (except the "Dave, leave my car alone FFS!". Usually just put on my CD player and stare out the window.

While I never played "I'm Going on a Trip and I'm Taking...," I have played "I'm So Hungry I Could Eat..." and "My Brother Owns a Multiplex and It's Showing...." In truth, there are many vocal interactivities I love to do on family car rides. For longer ones, it's necessary for my sanity. Passively listening to music and looking out the window helps me for about five minutes. I haven't fully overcome my childhood problem of getting headaches from reading in the car. And handheld video games never did much for me.

Some of these games I've devised on my own. There are a few similar ones among the Forum Games.

I love that coloring, probably because it's a one color strip.

DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.

It almost makes me want to make textures and construct a virtual model of the place.
