Residents in London, Georgia, are complaining to newspapers that Madonna has bought a $2.9 million, five-story mansion in order to covert it into a Kabbalah-themed hotel. She also has spent $6.5 million on a Kabbalah HQ facility in the town's West End.

Here's where "cynical" comes in.

I know a Jewish woman named Esther who has soured toward Madonna partly for adopting the nickname Esther, but mainly because she exoticizes Judaism. Madonna is not the only celebrity doing this, but she is certainly the most prominent. Are we to interpret the multimillion-dollar dedication as a sign of unusual commitment? Maybe overcompensation. Let's not forget how absorbed she was in Hinduism 6 or 7 years ago.

I think that Madonna treats religions, hairstyles, and sexual partners all the same way: she loves to broadcast them, but ultimately they're just for fun and show and she'll abandon them the moment they lose interest for her.

I bet Madonna knows about as much about Kabbalah as the average FFVII fan.

(Sorry for the large image; it was necessary. Besides, it's only 30k)

The trouble with that diagram is it confuses the hell out of me (non-flow diagrams don't get on with my brain too well). Still, the Tree of Life is such a pretty diagram. Especially when all glowy and stuff like it is in Neon Genesis Evangeleon

...That And I've never seen a copy large enough for me to read that bloody font...

She was a Buddhist. And a Hindu, judging from a time she sang in a foreign language before Ganesha. SNL has joked about her trying religions for all of a week.

I truly believe that Madonna is one of the worst role models when it pertains to religious furver. One should be looking for the pope of the Roman Catholics or some other role model to guide you. The book of Acts seem to be great for studing social roles.
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

Whether or not you trust any religious leader or scripture, you must admit that you should take your own theology seriously. I don't mean maniacally like you-know-who has lately, but let it be more than fun and style for you.

Most people wouldn't want others to internalize delusions of grandure if you know what I mean?

I can't remember if Jesus had much to say about the Ten Commandments during his time, he basically preached to love God in heaven and to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If some people would just follow those two basic rules then they might turn out to be better people. In matters of faith I believe those two rules are more or less all that's required.
