Ha! Millie's "Bully!" at the end really makes the strip.

One might ask why even Llewellyn would have Teddy Roosevelt's second mustache in a junk drawer.

Maybe he never had a third?

Say, was Teddy Roosevelt our last President to have any facial hair (not counting stubble)? I might like to see a Prez with a goatee.

I think the notion of the moustache being an item of limited value is this strip's strong point. I suppose only Llewellyn would place such lesser value on something like that. I'm not even going to think why he'd have it in the first place.

I think it has something to do with social trends. Today beards, goatees, and long hair are sort of viewed as belonging to those unkept and messy. I'm guessing (I'm not a social scientist though) that the public favors presidential candidates that look well shaven and neat.

Also, the only political party leader I know of that sports any facial hair (in his case, a moustache) is often accused by his opponents of looking like Hitler.

Which of course is just scare tactics. How many millions of people in history have had moustaches? And how many of those were Adolf Hitler? It gets really aggravating sometimes with all the political mudslinging.

I know. It's not even the right type of moustache!
