This is really true at my school, when I was forced to be on the choir there was always half the choir gone to sports practise, like athletcs which was my one, and our conductor got so angry at how sports got the higher preferance over music rehersal and that the rest of the school didn't care about it, though they would if the sports team was lacking in numbers.<br>But that's because in sports it's competition against other schools, in music there's no competition, just performance, so there's not much reputation to lose.

Mr. Larnblatt in the third panel looks great, very nicely drawn. I remember a few instances of teacher sarcasm.<br><br>And I think some schools hold marching band competitions, so it's not always sports, but most times is.

In the U.S., the big cash cows are football and basketball.<br><br>There are others of course, like baseball, wrestling, tennis, etc., but since they're not big money-makers schools for the most part don't care about them.<br>
