Ah, the C64. I fondly remember spending hours sitting in front of the TV, trying to beat the next level of Bristles, Jumpman, and Kong Strike Back... I thought it was the coolest thing on the planet.

That was in 1998.

Oh, and I posted a link to something.com before. I'm wondering though, 5h, did you think to go there after being to this page?

Cool. I happen to have a bunch of Commodore equipment at home that I don't need, although I doubt I could get it to you. The only thing I don't seem to have is a working TV adapter. Two of them are snapped, and the third doesn't seem to work anymore. But they're a pretty standard type; the Atari game console came with the same kind. The Nintendo adapter looks like it's the same kind too, but I can't be sure. Basically you need one that can plug into the jack marked "RF" on the back. Lemme know if you want any more help or advice or whatever.

"the atari game console..." I have a 5400, it acts as both the RF switch and a power adapter. do you think that will work? I have about a million standard RF switches from all of my consoles my brother (19) and sister (18) used to have.

and my parents would freak "if" I knew anybody over the internet, especially if they knew my address.

AHA! Found one! This is what you're looking for. If any of the adapters your siblings have look like that, then they ought to work.

The back of the 64 has something on the back that looks like a headphone jack. That's where the cord connecting the computer to the adapter would attach. So the easiest way to tell if an adapter is the right kind is to see if it will connect to that, either directly or with a cord that's the same on both ends.

Hope that helps.

Oh -- and it would also help to have an UHF-coax adapter or... whatever the heck they're called. It's a very tiny device that has two screws on one end and a coax connecter on the other. (Coax being the kind of connector that VCRs use -- it looks like a MEHTUL ring with a pin in the middle)

It's just a basic blade-to-coax adapter with a splitter, also useful for using old TVs with new cable, or new TVs with old antennas.
