Well, we've had no other suggestions...are we all OK with book covers?

Should be fine. Unless somebody has another suggestion. (I guess this is the last call for those.)

Gentlemen, to your media!

EDIT: I'd like to get a response on the next proposal:

I propose we divulge which books we've chosen, to provide both inspiration to others, and to make sure nobody gets disappointed when 5 of the same book come forward.

Feedback would be useful.
Thanks.

I had an idea for the subject of the contest. It was at 3 AM in the morning and it was a really stupid idea, and I can't remember it, and it's too late anyway, but it was STILL AN IDEA!!!

...and I wish I could remember what it was...

Can it be literature of any (obviously forum-appropriate) kind? or does it have to be something classic (i.e. Harry Potter-type stuff compared to Shakespeare)? Just a thought.
This signature may spontaneously combust at any given moment. Make sure there's a fresh can of gasoline handy.

Remember, call in the next ten minutes to recieve your Absolutely Free Official Llewellyn Inaction Figure! [Shipping, Handling, and resulting Dragon Conspiracies not included]

I think it can be any forum-appropiate literature, but I may be wrong.

There is two things I wanted to ask though, do we need to provide the book cover we're planning because different editions can have different covers and people may not know which book you're even doing? Or do we invent a cover based on the general theme/story and feel of the book?

I just want to clarify this before starting anything.

The aim is to come up with a cover illustration for a book of any forum-appropriate sort. You can either expand on the cover's original ideas, or come up with something totally fresh and new.

There is no restriction on choice of book, although the title and author must be included somewhere on it.

Anyone can join so long as they meet the closing date

By the way, how does anyone feel about saying which books they're doing? I have two ideas, one of which could suit two books.

Well, I'm either doing The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien (of which I have two possible designs), 1984 by George Orwell, or The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

Although, being the Tolkienite that I am, I'll probably end up doing The Hobbit. And I've been a Tolkienite since before the movies, in case you were wondering for some odd reason.

I'm considering Dr. Jekyll & Ms. Hyde*, or the BFG by Roald Dahl, which could also be Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift.

*Yes, I know I changed the title slightly. You may all do the same.

I wanted to do Cannery Row by Steinbeck but couldn't think of anything. Pity, cause that's one of my favourites.

I'm trying to choose between Ovid's Metamorphoses (a bit too ambitious prehaps), Kipling's Puck of Pook's Hill and Stevenson's A Child's Garden of Verses. I haven't decided yet, but those are the ones I'm considering.
