Millie really did pick an odd little spot; a little tiny place that speaks French, and doesn't have too much to offer except cows and a passage through to Germany and Holland. Having said that, the EU and the European Bank is based out of there, so I can see her logic

Ah, nothing like Millie interacting with her teacher. Plus I really liked the smile on Ozy's face lately. The last few previous strips sorta had little to no emotion on Ozy's face. I like the occasional grin from him now and then.

Actually Belgium speaks French and Flemish, I only defend this because I liked the country when I visited it a few years back.

You really get to feel sorry for Ms. Sorkowitz, since you have to figure she has hear this just about all the time, and since the strip's focus is on Ozy and Millie, you never really get to see how much the other students contribute to her day. Then again, I doubt anyone else could stand out as much as Millie in that classroom.

I was rather intrigued by her choice of locations. She must devote a lot of her perpetual mental motion to that country.

As a teenage exchange student in Europe, I had a brief flirtation with a Belgian girl named Helene. I fondly remember our conversations where we discussed what countries drove on which side of the road. You really did have to be there.

Is this why Belgium seems to appear now and again in certain strips? (memorable ones, I might add)

Millie might be right to remove Belgium from the books (BTW do American school books even mention Belgium ?). In the Current Events section, some people made a list of where members are from.

For example, there are two representatives here from the Furres' Republic of Lupinia, several dozen from the US, a pawful from Greater Llewellynland, etc. :-)
