Ruedii, there's something called sarcasm. And DooG seems to have plenty.

Insults, how very intelligent and mature. Course all can be made ok by saying you were using irony or joking.

Yeah, everything'll be alright...

Maybe I should throw money at the problem? Nope, that doesn't seem to work. Maybe I should use government power? Oops, I just made things worse by that. Hmm, ok I'll give you a rubber chicken if you stop insulting others. Hey it worked.

And they all lived hapily ever after...

I, of course, would take money. I don't want to have power, and, honestly, I wouldn't want a rubber chicken.

But in the position of Ozy's mother, seriously, I would've done just the same thing she did. I mean, if you create something that is perfect, what need would you have for money or power? If you have the perfect ice cream, money or power become meaningless, since the perfect ice cream would be able to do anything money or power could do, and even more, because it is, in every way, perfect. Most probably it is healthy and does not cause becoming fat or ill, but cures all diseases. It would probably be even more nutritious than the stuff astronauts eat, while tasting much better (no wonder the government wants it - Surely, NASA would do anything to get that stuff) So, it would be foolish to trade Perfection for anything. Anything but a rubber chicken.

The reason is very easy to see. I mean, do you know what use a rubber chicken would have? Of course, a rubber chicken is absolutely useless. There is absolutely nothing that could be more useless than a rubber chicken. And following the rules of Zen, the rubber chicken is therefore the most useful thing in the world. It is most useful by being absolutely NOT useful, and is therefore even more valuable as the perfect ice cream.

If this explanation doesn't satisfy you, I have another.

Since the ice cream was perfect, Ozy's mother most probably gained all the insights of the world from creating it. And so, she knew that she'd disappear. She also knew that if she chose the money, Ozy would in no way have gained any benefit from it, since the money would certainly have been taken away by whatever the American "Finanzamt" is called (The guys who collect taxes). The power Ozy's mother would have gained was earthly power which she had no use for in Nirvana.
So out of the three things, the rubber chicken was the best choice she could take. Because nobody would take it away from Ozy. I mean, who would sink deep enough to steal a child his rubber chicken? So, being a true mother, she decided to do what is best for her child: To let him inherit the least useful item there is in the world, and therefore, the most useful.

However, we are all far from creating something truly perfect, so am I. That's why I choose money. So I can live from it while I study Economics. And, of course, donate what's left to the Zen Master Himself, David R. Simpson, so that he will create more pieces of true Zen wisdom.
Back home in Germany, I always wonder what to write in my signature. Here, I can at least tell you I'm German, and that any mistakes I make in spelling, grammar or other matters are completely natural considering I'm not speaking my mother tongue here.

I like to play Chess, by the way. Not that anyone would care.

It appears that your Ripway account was suspended/removed, HM. When was the last time you logged into it? (Accounts inactive for a period of 30 days are removed, so you may need to sign up again.)
