At 1:30 PM today, my computer randomly shut itself off while I was opening a new toy I got for Christmas (more on that later). I booted it back up, no problems, nothing in the event log.

At 7:30 PM today, when I got home from work, my keyboard and mouse were unresponsive. I did a hard reboot, and it couldn't boot from the HD. I rushed it to the shop where I work, ran several hours worth of diagnostic tests, and concluded that the motherboard has died. I don't know why, but I suspect the power supply may have had something to do with it.

So, I'm waiting for Newegg's site to function again, while typing this on my laptop. I may not be around much until the new board comes in and I get the system working.

You'd think a $4000+ computer would be fairly problem-free, I guess I'm just that lucky

A few months ago, it was a very high-end motherboard, with the best of everything, and a record SIX SATA ports. Now, for some reason, they discontinued that particular model, and I can't find anything equivalent to it. I ordered an IC7-MaxG that's close enough, so we'll see how it goes.

Yeah, whenever I build mine I get everything as cheap as possible except the chip and GFX cards

There's sometimes stuff that goes wrong on it, but not hardware-wise.

Hope you get it fixed - that's a lot to shell out....
The end is nigh!

Jeez, a dead motherboard, that isn't a good thing. Good luck with the replacement, hopefully it will last a lot longer.
