I found O&M when I was board and looking for something to do, at the time I was not looking for web comics so I past it by but I noted the location of the link that got me their and read a few. Then downloaded the archives (witch it impressed me that he had them their like that) and read them when I had the time.

Amazing. Somehow I had managed to not notice the "Archives" link on the main page. I had just hit the first strip (double left arrow) button and gone forward from there.

I also just remembered that one of the most impressive things about this comic was that it started in 1998. There don't seem to be many webcomics with that much of a history.

I had been a religous Calvin and Hobbes fan for years. after that that comix was retired and for years after that I had always been looking for another good quality comic. A couple of months ago a freind of mine sent me a link to O&M and the first strip I read reminded me so much of Calvin and hobbes that I knew this comic was what I had been searching for. through boredom I read the archives and it was confirmed that it was a great comic. heck even after a few I knew. I was hooked from the first though. After reading all the archives (I too went backwardds for a little) I checked out house rules and loved that. I form the link to this forum and although I really do not do forums (newsgroups ruined it for me) I felt that being related to O&M it had to be the type of forum I could appriciate. Well all of you proved that. thats it i guess.

When Ozy and Millie was still associated with Keenspot i saw an add of the "leaf grief thief" comic on the Keenspot Newsbox and thought it was funny but didn't follow it to the actual strip. A month or so later (my memory is hazy) i was browsing Yerf when i saw David's artwork on it and liked it enough to start reading the actual comic. This was all early 2003 if i'm not mistaken.
It took me about five days to read the archives because i like to savor the experience, and though it's never been my favourite comic i do think it's one of the best online comics i've read. When David posted a link to this forum in his news section, i registered.

Quote: (GhostWay)

I also just remembered that one of the most impressive things about this comic was that it started in 1998. There don't seem to be many webcomics with that much of a history.

Not really, many comics have histories just as long. Albert Temple's been drawing online since 1996 (though his current comic started later), Melonpool's been online for that long too (though i don't read it so don't quote me on that), Newshounds since 1997, Funny Farm also started in 1998 i think, Scotty Arsenault's Sully & Minkle is 1997 at least, Unlike Minerva was 1999 i think (it's ended now), and Bob & George is 1999 too (same comment here as the Melonpool parenthesis). The first webcomic started (and is still going) in 1993. I'm sure there are many others but i can't remember much now.

Well, it all started when I thought I'd like to try my hand at art. Two of my friends (One I actually introduced to the strip today, and the other, who, although not entirely taken, did read a few and found them funny) were on DA, and seeing as it was free, I gave it a go.

Whilst looking at the recent submissions, I caught sight of a little and out-of-context image. This was one of Nyss's avatars. There was a link to the strip, but never having really read any web-comics before (only 8-Bit-Theatre) I didn't really take much notice. It was all out of context, you see. I think the strip was the Tabasco Sauce one from the Millie vanquishing evil story arc. Besides, I was kinda busy and so didn't look around the site.

A bit later, I saw another of Nyss' avatars, and was given the link again. I followed it, found the << button, promptly downloaded the archives and read them Sunday and Monday. Then I came here ^.^
The end is nigh!

On the Nationstates.net forums, someone posted Healthy Competition. Then I decided to check out the comics, and it took me weeks to read through the archives. I did join at the right time, because I hadn't read the reruns yet which appeared on the front page at the time.

Yes, the Far Side tinged Doctor Fun is the first "cartoon" on the web, but Where the Buffalo Roam seems to be even older. It appeared on a few papers before posting its strips in 1991 to the internet, though it has now ended. Read more about early comics here.
