OOT: I think it's time for a Moderator to pin this to the board. Obviously it's a discussion that seemingly will be going on for a while.

Garfield the comic strip is okay in my book, but a real life movie?!

Why do I totally see that not working? Whose idea was that anyway? Hopefully not Jim Davis'....

Ozy and Millie as a real life movie would be undoable.... too many anthromorphic furries running about. Plus you'd have to find kids to work the parts, and there are all kinds of laws regarding that kind of stuff.

You could probably work out many of the storylines to fit a 30 minute program... including intro theme, commercials [which compromises about 8-12 minutes of the 30 by itself], and ending credits.
This signature may spontaneously combust at any given moment. Make sure there's a fresh can of gasoline handy.

Factor 1-2 minutes for the intro and recap, 8-12 for the commericals, and 1-2 minues for the credits and preview. That leaves like 15 minutes which is plenty for a storyline.

I have an idea for a (cheapish) Ozy and Millie computer game! It's called "Ozy and Millie and the Taco of Doom" (yes, after that one strip) and it's part "Monkey Island"-style adventure game, part 2D platformer. Part of the adventure part is already scripted and everything even. Anyway, I knew I'd need voices for it so I started looking and here's what I came up with, and keep in mind these are all from cartoons so you might not be familiar with them:
As Ozy: Jason Marsden (he was in some sitcom, but I know him as Tino from "The Weekenders")
As Millie: Kath Soucie (she's in probably everything Disney has done in the last few years, and her voice just popped into my head while I was reading the strip. plus she does a lot of kinda mischievous girl characters)
As Llewellyn: either David Hyde Pierce ("Frasier", "A Bug's Life") or Arthur Holden (Mr. Ratburn on PBS' "Arthur", in case Pierce is too expensive)
As Ms. Mudd: also Kath Soucie (she also plays a lot of young-mother voices, and it wouldn't be the first time she's starred opposite herself anyway)
As Capt. Locke, who IS in the game as I've planned it: Neil Ross (he played a midged pirate wannabe in the "Monkey Island" video games, and he really does do a good young-pirate voice)
As Felicia, who is NOT in the game: whoever does the voice of Myrtle in "Lilo and Stitch" (she's exactly that kind of character anyway; I don't know her name because she's just listed under "Additional Voices" in the credits)

* Gasp! * Anyway, I guess I'll have to hear Kevin Kline's voice again, but Jason is a TV actor so he'll be cheaper to get anyway.
Now, as for a "theme song": I was thinking it would have to be something by "Weird Al" Yankovic because, let's face it, it's THAT kind of strip. But for some reason, when I read the comic, Jump5 comes more readily to mind. Huh.

I was thinking about attempting a O & M game as my first attempt at a 3D engine.

Ozy and Millie would have one storyline (either character per level) and would have Mario-ish type levels

Locke would be unlockable after O&M's 2nd level (which would take place on the other side of the couch cushions) and would have Zelda-like dungeon levels

Avery, Isolde, Felicia would be possible multiplayer characters.

Don't forget the rest of the O&M cast....

Multiplayer Versus Mode! With pies, supersoakers, and anything else a kid would use against other kids!

Or how about a game based on State-Of-The-Art Anti-Missile Defense...?

I could make him playable from the start.

Of course, I have no clue on how to program a 3D engine, so if I was to make a game, I would probably use Game Maker (which can do sidescroller, overhead, and isometric) to make the game at first.

I was thinking later in the game. If Locke's gonna be a playable character, you wanna make people work for the privlege to play as the legendary dread pirate. Arr.
