Does an agnostic still go to church every sunday and part take in religious festivities?

Just thinking about myself being agnostic just makes me sick to my stomach. Literally.
if that agnostic is a christian, then yes he does go to church (well, some christians DON'T go to church, but that's beside the point) and partakes in festivities.

you just think it means the definiton of agnostic that some people use. some people are actually atheists, but are afraid that they might offend people by saying such (whether it's a conscious feeling or not), and so they think that they can just say "I'm an agnostic".

a real agnostic is simply ANYONE, christian atheist jew muslim zoroastrian jainist buddhist hindu, that understands that there is a possibility that god does/does not exist.

yes, by people that DON'T believe in god. they're ignoring the possibility that life is a facade, put in place by god.
No, they're not ignoring the possibility, they're discounting the probability; Occam's Razor slices that one to ribbons.
well, I'm obviously spewing crap to play devil's advocate, because I think that you put a little too much thought and zeal into all this science and religion stuff.
Yes, well, for the last year or two, I've been absorbing Dawkins, Dennett, Harris and Hitchens...and animation tends to be a very solitary activity, with plenty of time for the mind to wander.

And there'z nothing wrong with thought and zeal; frankly, zeal without thought is bloody dangerous!
so basically, you get to call it not-belief because you're right.
No, I get to call if not-belief because the facts are on my side, and because you don't have to take my word for it; the facts are available for you to check, to have peer-reviewed and vetted by experts, to experiment with and get measurable results. The same cannot be said of religion, and that's entirely due to the faith requirement.
...you would seriously say that? that's being way too much of an asshole. Why be hostile to someone just because they're not an atheist?
It's none of the above. It's the only rational position to take if one has respect for facts above feelings.

I said this before and I'll say it again. The absolute only way to know for sure is to die.

err, well personally I think it's a lot more important to NOT be an asshole that offends everyone, than to "enlighten people" with your truth all the time, even though I agree with you that it's the truth.

I think it's a matter of tiering your facts and feelings. To yourself, keep the fact that there is no god above feelings. to, for instance, your friend that just mentioned something about his faith, keep feelings over facts. Not that mature conversation discussing your different views is bad, but insisting that you're right and they're wrong is pretty much the same as those preachers that preach all sinners go to hell and shit

I still believe in God and nothing that Rocketgirl or any other atheist can say to make me think differently. I have that strong of faith.
Think about that for a moment: nothing that anybody can say can make you think differently.

...imagine if everybody thought that way about everything, not just religion or faith.

I can think of just one extreme example right now to illustrate the point:
"I don't think there are any cars coming, so I'm going to cross the street."
"Look out, there's a car coming!"
"No, no...I already believe there are no cars coming; nothing you can say can make me think differently."
*SMACKO*

Now, my position is that if you have the facts on your side, present a case; if it stands up to logical, empirical scrutiny, I will change my mind and be happy that our knowledge base has been advanced.
That's significantly more reasonable than making faith claims without that kind of evidence, or than insisting that nothing can ever change your mind about something.

Now here's Rocketgirl being a total jerk saying how my faith is fake and blah blah blah.
Oh, I'm pretty sure I'm just being a partial jerk. :-P

But, hey...if your faith isn't fake, present the evidence. Prove to me that whatever you have faith in is real in a way that anybody could see, test, and verify. I've already stated that I'm open to new ideas and new information, I'm just not prepared to accept anything on faith; s'gotta be objective or it carries no weight and holds no water.

Aye, there's the rub. God is unknowable and the afterlife cannot be documented. Seems rather silly to tell someone they can't know for sure, doesn't it?

EDIT: Sheesh you guys are posting too fast.

Well, given that faith has been used to be a much bigger asshole, I think I'm justified in fighting back.

Between the blocking of scientific research like stem cells, to blocking gay marriage and abortion, to genital mutilation, to the indoctrination of the young, religion has a lot to answer for, and needs to be pushed back against.

No...I made these videos for a reason, not for DC. I just put them here because there was a forum for it.

That post was made for the post right after you were talking about my last post. People just posted faster than me.
