To me, it looks like a bunch of guys driving in circles, and I doubt causing me grievous bodily injury on a racetrack is going to change my mind. If I need to nearly kill myself to enjoy NASCAR then I'll pass.Shame. Maybe one time, we should put you in a NASCAR car, put 42 other cars on the track, and have you go at the same speed as the pros do (in a 150+ degree car with no A/C!) and see how long you last. I doubt you'd make it through the first turn without crashing or getting spun out. NASCAR drivers are some of the best drivers in the world, and what they do takes a LOT of skill and split-second reaction times.

Sure, they're driving around in circles, but that's pretty much the same in every sport. Football, you keep going towards the same endzone every time you have the ball. Baseball, you go in a circle around the bases. Basketball, same as football, except you go for the hoop instead of the endzone. Hockey, you go around and around the rink. Soccer, you kick the ball around the too-large field in the tiny hopes that the ball might actually make it inside the goal at all during the game. And so on.To me, it looks like a bunch of guys driving in circles, and I doubt causing me grievous bodily injury on a racetrack is going to change my mind. And all of these things I find dull and repetitive; yet NASCAR takes the cake because it's the most repetitive of the lot. Save for crashes, the cars go along the same course over and over. The driver might try something vaguely inventive, like going slightly to the left or right, or maybe going a little bit faster (gasp!) but is ultimately unable to escape the elliptical tedium. I mean, at least F1 has some variation.Sure, they're driving around in circles, but that's pretty much the same in every sport. Yet, F-1 goes around in circles, just like NASCAR, IndyCar and virtually any other racing sport. (Except drag racing, though they always go for the same point on the track, usually 1 mile away from the start)And all of these things I find dull and repetitive; yet NASCAR takes the cake because it's the most repetitive of the lot. F1 tracks are all kinds of shapes. NASCAR, on the other hand, is elliptical. Always.
But anyway, other racing sports bore me, just not as much as NASCAR does.

Always? Really? Then you've never heard of Watkins Glen(road course), Infineon(road course), Richmond (more "D" shaped than elliptical), Darlington (egg-shaped, not elliptical), Martinsville (paperclip-shaped), Pocono (triangle-shaped), and so on.F1 tracks are all kinds of shapes. NASCAR, on the other hand, is elliptical. Always.

Anyway, none of this really has anything to do with the topic of the Stanley Cup (which I was unable to watch last night because of the power outage).

Oh? *Looks around my room* I don't see any beer cans or a shotgun. Go look around Joe Gibbs' house, see if you see any beer cans or shotguns. Or any other NASCAR driver/owner's house. In fact, I'll bet you that if you went to every NASCAR fan's house, you might find beer cans or shotguns in (at most) 25%. Calling NASCAR fans "rednecks and NRA fans" is nothing but a stereotype.WRONG.But not all NASCAR fans are "rednecks with beers and shotguns".

I wouldn't say "more skilled", just requires a different kind of skills, but still the same basic principles. Go fast and turn (left or right). NASCAR, some tracks you don't shift a lot, but in F1 you do.Nascar may take skill, but to me, it is boring as hell to watch. Even F1 gets boring to me after a while, and it is a lot more skilled and interesting. Guess I'm not much of a racing fan...
