Weird April Fools Day Comic.

Postby Tophat_John » Mon Apr 07, 2008 12:39 am

I read Brian Emling's webcomic, Breakpoint City, and the April fools day comic was just finished today, it was a collaboration.

There are no words, I can't describe it.

What do you think?

The comic is well drawn, but in all honesty I didn't see any humor or what the point was unless it's parodying how boring robo animes/mangas are. Anyway browsed back and read the first two comics and the most recent non april fools comic. They were equally boring but fairly well drawn as well.

It wasn't obvious that it was a Three Stooges parody? :?

I get it. It's the Three Stooges with mechs and the dialog made stilted (note what takes the place of "Oh, a wise guy, huh?" and "You knucklehead!"). I'd find it funnier if I ever cared for the Stooges.

Same. I'm not much for physical comedy.

Never seen The Three Stooges.

Are they like the Marx Brothers?

Much more slapstick, some consider them the founding fathers of slapstick.

The best video I could find as an example of their comedy style.

Trivia fact, the 4th stooge, Shemp is largely responsible for the term fake shemp, which is the term used in show business when someone is heavily covered in makeup to play an actor who is unavailable at the time of filming or permanently in the case of health problems or death

I actually found that pretty funny.

"Your head is made of knuckle!"
[00:34:00] <Dermy> I do love to manipulate the standard rules of language for opportunistic effect
[00:34:06] <Dermy> Like a grammar hyena, I am
[00:34:16] <Dermy> Munching on the tasty entrails of tradition

[22:26:20] <MuffinSticks> I'm a chocolate muffin with white ears and a striped black and red tail
[22:26:35] <MuffinSticks> And exactly 6 chips

My DA account, for those who care enough to look/click/etc.
And my FA account as well!

It's not a reference for everyone...just like half of my comic's jokes :wag:

I love the Stooges. I understand all of the references in the comic. That being said, I didn't find it even slightly amusing. If anything, it was a bit too obvious; it tried too hard.

Three stooges rock. Took me about halfway through the thing to finally catch on it was a stooge parody. I thought it was pretty good but not the funniest thing I've ever seen.
