The Beatles have some great songs, and I won't deny their impact and importance to how music sounds now...but I just don't like John Lennon or Paul McCartney as people...
Everything George Harrison has ever written is absolutly amazing, and Ringo is a diamond geezer.
But all in all, I prefer The Kinks.

You just have to word it as well as he does.See, this is the kind of thing I wish I could say; but I would just end up screwing it up and offending EVERYONE.They bore the bejeezus out of me. Someone said earlier that you have to take your hat off to the massive influence they had on pop music that followed and yes, they changed the face of the music industry entirely.
However, I've tried and tried and tried and tried and I find their music drudgerous and slothful, filled with asinine lyrics, hookless choruses and extremely reedy, nasal harmony singing.
Furthermore, the Cult of Lennon drives me bonkers. It may be more prevalent over here, but Beatles are treated like national treatures, Lennon in particular. Lennon was a belligerent, rude man and all of his posturing and rhetoric shouldn't be allowed to cover that up.
No, whilst The Beatles were an extremely important band, I find them bankrupt of merit in themselves.

I was never really a Beatles person, so the references don't really do anything for me. Plus, I'll only notice that it's a Beatles reference when it's obliquely referred to as something related to the Beatles. I'm sure they did a lot for rock, but then again I'm not really a rock person.

George Harrison rocks.
The Beatles are fairly good as a whole, but George Harrison could write the socks off someone who really likes socks.

That is what I have the problem with.
