Actuall,y BSP, i've asked the same thing before. From what i understand from some vegitarians, fish don't exiibit intelligence. They don't eat dolphin (thank god!), shark, or whale.

i really don't think too much on the matter because i really don't like seafood anyway!

Hmm, this talking about vegetarianism reminds me of something, after looking at how I eat, and just to be wierd, I actually classify myself as a scavenger, I'll eat fruits, vegetables, and meat, but I wont kill my own meat, if it's already dead then I'm just recycling the resources, I just try not to think of the fact that the meat was killed for me.
By the power of greyskull, I'm not sure I believe that.

For a minute there I was tempted to say something contraversial. wow.

Most vegitarians I know eat fish and chiken but avoid red meat. Some because fo the taste, some because they just like the other animals better, and others because chickens and fish are stupid. My beliefs (as partialy sated earlier) is that killing things (whaever they may be) is wrong except in certan cercumstances. One of those is survival. Being human I have to kill things to survive (I need food, if you would see me you would probaby think I need more then I get). Therefore it's right for me to kil food (or have it killed). I don't make that big of a diference between plants, animals, and humans. I don't finds anythign wrong with canabalism (except the fact tht humans don't seem to be canabalistic) except for the fact that it is against the law; I repect the law. I agree wiht murder being illegal so I agree with canabalism beign against the law. It goes back to social theory and the social contract. But that leaves me to not make a diference between eating a plant or a non human animal (or another kindom I supose). If there was a plant and an animal in fornt of me and I had to kill one of them I woudl kill the plant but in terms of food I go for whatever I likes best right then.

My food choices can be rather fickle, and I simply choose with what seems good. While I am by no means vegetarian nor strictly carnivorious, I sometimes like trying the varieties of creative foods made by people trying to set certain limits to their diets just to for the sake of trying them. I occasionally like trying foods that are mildly spicy; too hot, and I don't think it's worth the trouble and discomfort.

Occasionally, I try to fit what I eat with what I expect to be doing activity-wise, like if I know I will be working hard on something, I would eat whatever I can in ample amounts (BUFFET!!!), or if I think I won't be doing much more than sitting at home, I might barely have anything at all, or maybe pack a snack so that I can have convenient quick energy handy as I need it. It's not as healthy as a truly balanced diet, though, so I try to make time for moderate meals when I can.

I eat the usual meats because the animals are dumb/ugly/whatever, and I have no problem with them being killed. I'm a bit more weary about critters like deer, which I wouldn't eat if it wasn't for the fact that the guy who supplies me with deer meat hunts using a big knife and hand-to-hoof combat, giving the deer a chance to fight back. Needless to say, the deer win about half of the time.

Dr. Fred has a point. he has two. his claws are very sharp.

Joking aside, I think that we should feel guilty about eating meat, but only after we stop feeling guilty (because we fix it, not because we don't care) about everything else we do.

Example: Achieve world peace before feeling guilty about eating meat.

prioritys, people.

also, isn't there a website where you can apologize for eating a cow?

just don't hunt purely for sport. at least not until aliens invade and start hunting us

I know several vegitarians who eat fish occasionally just to get some protein in their diet. I dunno, I don't feel guilty about eating meat. Even when I think about it, I just don't have any qualms about it. Maybe I'm a souless, heartless monster. Oh, wait, I'm a human, so that's implied.

I don't feel guilty about eating meat, and nor to i consider myself heartless.

I do however consider myself deluded. It's easy to forget when you are eating something exactly what it was before it was this tasty meal, and under what circumstances it lived and died. Personally, deluding myself is probably the only way I manage.

In a way, it may be seen as evolution that we have such a society that allows others to supply our food for us, as opposed to us providing for ourselves.

I'm a vegetarian but i eat fish, not because i think they're dumb. I don't think any animal is. I just like the taste.

The feeling guilty to eat animal after seeing it alive thing reminds me of a scene in the movie All Quiet on the Western Front. A soldier trapped in a trench with an injured enemy soldier can't take the grief any longer, spending the night after stabbing him, and finally tries to heal his wounds, but is too late. When he checks his papers he finds the person was a composer he admired in life, and he killed him. I recommend the movie if you haven't seen it, that's just one part of the story.
