Memes and work don't mix

I just read this sentence in an office report:
New York/New York III, a housing initiative, creates over 9,000 new housing units.
I changed "over" to "more than" in keeping with my company's style, but the temptation was to put that word and the following number in bold.

A similar thing happened to me just before Christmas. I was asked to sell some machinery for someone, so I advertized it a few places for around $4500. One of the "interested buyers" I got contacted by was a fraudster, and after a few emails back and forth sent a fraudulent cheque to my address express post with a return address obviously written to be illegible. The amount was for $9124. We were all a bit bewildered by it. My mom phoned the bank about it (I wasn't in charge of the financial stuff), and a few other places, including the place that the cheque template was stolen from. When asked how much the fake cheque was for I could overhear her saying "ITS OVER NINETHOUSAAAAND". I lol'd.

One of my co-workers entered an issue into our bug tracking system, and it was issue number 6000. He sent out a department-wide email bragging about this (it's common for us to brag when we're the one submitting an issue that's a multiple of 1000), and then went on to make a reference to OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!!!!! in that very email.

I often add little snippets of memes into support call logs, most of the time they go unnoticed. Explaining to my boss what PEBKAC means was interesting though ...

QFT again.

Only thing I've got is this "I am..." board one of my teachers has up. It's supposed to be filled with things like "I am excellent!" and "I am self-dependent!" and such, but of course my friend wrote up on there "I am OVER 9000!!!" in large letters. Funny, but you'd have to be there.

Oh, and then there's my other friend who uses "epic fail" and "woot" in daily conversations, greatly confusing the teacher.
