I like to think that I am tolerent, but if you are so gay that the guy working at the airport immediatly knows your gay then you need to stop being so flaming gay.

I'm pretty sure it was more along the lines of the airline employee recognizing his name (I mean, he is a TV personality).

I don't mind straight people, as long as they act gay in public.

Whatever.

As for the original topic - I agree with what he's saying, school was the worst days of my life. People saying 'ah you know, they're the best days of your life' used to be so depressing - the thought that after leaving life would be worse than having the snot kicked out of you every day, being taunted regularly and having your stuff stolen or destroyed all the time.

Excellent article, and a great find.

Hanging Tree: Ever heard of "gaydar"? It's practically a cliche, but most gay people can usually spot other gay people more quickly than someone who's not "in the know".

Yeah, I had to endure that kinda crap when I was in school.

What got me then was that, for the most part, all the teachers, admin, etc. would just repeat the same old mantra: "Just ignore them and they'll go away," which was total B.S. Ignoring bullies only makes them escalate their efforts.

I'm glad to see that society is finally beginning to wake up and realize that this is a serious problem, but we still have a long way to go.
Anyone who takes anything I say seriously deserves what they get.

Trust me: I'm one of the smartest guys I know.
Phht, lame.

Also, I don't get the big deal with bullies. They exist, they grow into crappy jobs, they die alone...

I always used to just try and make them laugh by using my natural buffoonery.

There will always be bullies, and no amount of better learnings will stop that. It'd be like trying to get NWA to stop being black.

That's what I've always done too, but getting the bully on your side takes more charisma than some people have.

Homeschooled. :)
gforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

Well, I'm in 9th grade, so I can certainly relate.

It may seem like a bad idea, but using your natural manipulative skills on those who are less self-confident and so inclined to bully you is an a very effective tactic.

Bullies live off of attention and making others feel bad. Doing something funny and making him*/her* laugh is disarming.

*Sorry to those of you out there going, "Why didn't he say 'there'?" It would be grammatically incorrect. And the great Intraweb is, sadly, devoid of it. I'm doing my best to bring it back. Thank you for wasting your time. =)
Anami and Anami are sitting around Anami says "GRR I AM ANGSTY LET'S EXPRESS ANGST" and so Anami says "ONE OF THE MODS ON DC IS A DICK I POSTED A PICTURE THAT WASN'T REALLY THAT INAPPROPRIATE AND THREE MODS SAW IT AND DID NOTHING THEN A FOURTH ONE SAW IT AND DELETED IT" and Anami says "OMG I HATE MODS >:("

I never really got bullied in school, so whatev.

I never really bought into this "the bullied get rich and the bullies die poor" thing, either. Sounds way too naive and stereotypical.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

That's not always as easy for some as it is for others. I don't think Rick was trying to do away with bullies...I think he's more trying to give a lift to those who are having some tough times with bullies. Believe me, I know exactly what he's talking about.

Also, that thing about him being the smartest guy he knows, I think he was JK. He is a comedian.

OK. pants it. I lied. It's drum and bass. What you gonna do?

I think those people who say school was the worst time of their lives need to spend a few more years trying to make it on their own to appreciate how easy they had it when young.

It was Angela doing the bullying. :-P
