I suddenly got to thinking about this: What kinds of ways have any of you tried sharing your fandom of Ozy and Millie with others? I read from a couple others so far stuff like posting them on refrigerators, printing them out and pinning them to cubicles or stuff like that...

On a hit of inspiration, I downloaded the archives and saved them on a PDA with HTML... (about 67 megs, in case you're wondering) so I could share a comic whenever someone does something that makes me think "Hey, I have the perfect Ozy and Millie comic for that!" Hopefully, this will help spread word-of-mouth a little better.

Printed out one of the comics that I thought was hilarious and spread the joy.
I now have it stapled to the back of my desk, for all to see

I've posted up strips in my LiveJournal, I talk about O&M all the time in normal convos, make personal jokes from some strips, soon I'll start sending strips in letters to friends (there is a story behind that, I'm not all the random you know), I draw fan art for classes, I'm sure there is other things I do that help spread O&M but I can't think of them right now. I'll most likely think of them right after I reply...but that's how it always works.
I was trying to think of a signature that would show who I really am...but my head started to hurt so I gave up and this is all I had come up with...sorry if it stinks to a higher power, I'm just not good at these kind of things...see, even this is getting too long and will annoy you

*Wonders off to find a better signature*

I have found that using quotes from O&M as away messages for AOL Instant Messanger and then providing a link to the comic strip is a good way to introduce people to the strip. They click the link to see the comic I quoted and then they surf some of the ones after it.
If you do try this, don't link to strips in the middle of an important storyline, such as the Millie, Ms. Mudd, Captain Locke storyline. I confused a lot of people with that one.
Examples:
"Like many philosophers who came before me, I note, the universe could use more candy" -Millie
www.ozyandmillie.org
"You know what's really interesting? My cushion fort-building skills have proven vastly more useful than knowing the capital of Kentucky" -ozy
http://www.ozyandmillie.net/1999/om19990920.html
And
"It is better to bravely endure the indignities of love...than to be poked in both eyes with a sharpened wax banana." -old dragon saying
http://www.ozyandmillie.org/2001/om2001 ... /a>

That's how I do it, and it works pretty well.

P.S. This is my first ever quote on a real message board, so if did something wrong, I'm sorry!!
I, too, did the classical move of printing out a few, passing them around to people whom I suspected would like 'em and finding I was right most of the time.

When I was in highschool, I used to print out a ton of my favorite webcomic strips and keep them in a binder. Complete waste of paper now that I think of it, but when your suffering through the boredom of droning teachers, you take all appropriate measures.

Anyways, I kept the binder out a lot. It had clear pockets on the fronts and sides where I placed my favorite strips comics (used to be PVP until I found Ozy and Millie). Got lots of comments about them.

A lot of times it'd be "you read comics? lame." then they'd read the ones I had and laugh.

Most people I talk to online when they mention their bored, I point them to O&M in hopes that they haven't seen it yet. Never had someone say they didn't like it yet.

Well, once I am able to I'll be wearing an O&M shirt, and I also doodle alot in my books at school, and when people ask what I'm doodling I tell them about Ozy and Millie(unless by some chance I'm not doodling O&M). Doodle.

Once I get a job I'll do the old pinning up comics routine. Dilbert can get a bit boring when you've seen the same one over and over pinned on the walls.

in the begining, there was O&M... *cue fuzzy grey flashback* the day i discovered it was when i begain sharing... i was talking to my best friend at the time and sent her a link, we both begain reading and sending each other the goodies. after that i begain emailing the best of them to my entire email list*ive actually had a freind tell me to stop because i was overloading her email system * and soon other frineds were emailing back saying how brilliant it was, and that they were sharing as well! as i;ve already sent just about all of them, i've now resorted to printing them out for my binders and am working on schoolbook covers w/ O&M on them. aside from that, me and said best friend quote O&M to each other constantly *the note we were passing back and forth during class today begain with "Excusse me miss, how many MATTRESSES are you hiding on your person?"*, i relate O&M to everyday life and tell my family about the strip, i've even used some of Millie's elaborate jokes on my freinds, i.e.the recently rerun Queen of all i survey one, i managed to get my friend to buy me a soda *i couldnt bring myself to take her money tho, and she bought one for herself that i shared* and in general obsess about it to anybody who will stay still for long enough...

Ozy and Millie is just so good you can't keep it to yourself for very long. I printed out some of my favourite ones and placed them on the fridge for all three of my other family members to see.

There are now three extra Ozy and Millie readers in the world.

I've tried sharing the comic with others, but they usually don't really catch on to it too much. One good friend of mine, who LOVES Calvin & Hobbes, said when I showed it to him that "This strip is a watered down version of Calvin & Hobbes".

Now, I found this highly interesting as a complaint, as Calvin & Hobbes is a very good comic. I think his main objection was that the format was highly similar in many ways - Millie and Calvin have a LOT in common, though Millie is far less destructive personality-wise and is much more playful. I dunno, really; I like Ozy & Millie a lot, and would say that it is one of the best webcomics there is. It is obvious at times however that Simpson is not totally professional - strips like his election 2002 one were highly reactionary, even a form of angst. There is nothing wrong with that in and of itself, and I agree with the sentiment. Just strips like that rub me the wrong way for whatever reason, whereas strips like the Mr. Dubya ones do not. (I'm highly liberal I might add, and agree with pretty much all of Rain's views politically) I do read it every day though, and tell others to take a look at it, and I like it a lot and laugh at it, and about twice a month go through the entire archieve.

I noticed this last night, but failed to mention it on the boards, but ZIP files of the archives are now available on the O&M website. I don't know how long it has been like that, but I found it amusing that that appeared so soon after I did it the hard way.
