I have to vote for the old one... sorry.
Legs look better in the old one (just my bad opinion).
I also think 2000-2001 was your best drawn year.

If you put peanutbutter anywhere on your body, I'll lick it off...
ANYWHERE.
My deviantart... though it does suck.
My FA... nothing's on it right now, so there's no point to click it.

I think 2000-2001 were better for cuteness,
But the modern strips fluffier tails and smooth but sharp lines.
So really I don't mind if the logo changes. But I'd prefer the new one because it's new and variety is the spice of life!
I actually think that the week of sketches wins the best drawn award. While the lines were pencil, the emphasis on new expressions and the thicker ankles (cause they're always thin) just pwned.
Plus Human O&M was kinda cool!

Myself, I'm always a fan of how sketches reveal a bit of how the artist goes about constructing their work, that sort of stuff tends to get covered up in the finalization (inking, resizing, etc) phases.

You ink better now... but that's really it for me (and the new look of some of the other characters is nice). You're entitled to that opinion, of course, but...best drawn? Seriously?I also think 2000-2001 was your best drawn year.
I disagree rather profoundly.
Now, I do believe that if I'm going to disagree with the new one, I should give very critical and maybe hurtful reasons why I do so.
Here's your picture:

In your old style, you separated the legs when they stood still... now you don't. To be honest... just doesn't look right to me when the legs are, uhh, pushed together. Kinda looks like they're in an Army lineup. Just look at the feet... going in the same direction while the body turns a little bit more to the audience.
The old body style was nice because it had long bodies to match longer legs. In the old style, the head matched the body, but not much anymore. Their heads are huge compared to the body now.
Pupils... don't care for the smaller pupils. It makes them look... shocked all the time. Meh.
I like the new tails and the new way you draw faces. Awesome improve compared to the old... but I still prefer 2000-2002 (yeah, 2002 ruled too).
There's my 2 cents. Don't get mad, I'm just saying what I've been thinking for the longest time.

Brings up an interesting question though - I know you recently did a sort of deliberate exploration of styles awhile back - was that a more or less regular occurance of the past ten or so years, or is the style-shift mostly unconcious?

Well, you're the artist and you will always have the final say.I am not so insecure that I'd be angry you think that. I just think you're wrong. There's my 2 cents. Don't get mad, I'm just saying what I've been thinking for the longest time.
I just don't like to be honest because I do usually go farther than most would. A lot of people get mad at me for it so, yeah. But, at least put what I said to heart, okay? You know, it's never a bad thing to read critiques (whether you follow them or not matters very little, it's just good to always know what people may think).

Well David, now I know that if I ever meet you and I'm wearing my original "Define Cynical" shirt, you're not wincing at me because you think I'm ugly.
Heh
. I love the new design! I can very much relate to the pain of looking back on works that old.
