gforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

Wait, which brand was it?
Wacom.
I got one to work using the stylus and pointer too. As a bonus: the module is in-kernel now.

(I coiuld send you my xorg.conf, if it helps)

I need a tablet...

What size do most people get? 4"x6"? Cause that's tiny. And if larger, how does the average, generally poor guy afford one larger?

Mine's a 4x5, actually. It's not that small, really, when all you're doing is touching something up that you scanned in. It only seems that way.

Mine's 6×8, and I got it as a gift. I could probably cope with a smaller one, but hindsight is 20-20.

Then how do people manage to make such detailed pictures with just their tablet? It's driving me crazy, the mind boggling idea that people do these crazy cool looking pictures purely on a wacom through oC on such a tiny screen.

I've always been able to draw quite a bit of detail in a small space, so I could probably do fine in OpenCanvas if I wanted to use it for, say, collab drawing. But I usually do my tablet work as "inking" on top of sketches I drew by hand and scanned in, zoomed to at least 200% (and that's of a 300dpi scan). A head literally fills my screen at that size.

Zooming in and panning around, of course.

When you draw, note how big each stroke can get, except the ones you draw with a ruler (because there are tricks to avoid that on the tablet). You really only need enough room for those.
