w00t!

Also, Tum, in regards to the misprint, I found this on AOL.

Poof! Pages missing for some Potter fans.

gforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

Now would be an odd time to be reading book 1, wouldn't it?

I have just finished reading it! I did it within a 12-hour period. It was stupendous, superperb! Awe-inspiring in its scope. In other, words, I liked it a lot.
Most importantly, it finishes and binds the series. Now that everything is explained, I must make a confession:
HARRY POTTER MAY BE BETTER THAN THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
Good night, and thank you.

Cameron is awesome because:
-Because he has an artistic style that is both complex and minimalist. This is profound!
-He once drew me as a roadrunner. It was an actual honest to god feral roadrunner, but a roadrunner nonetheless!
-He lives in Idaho among the wilderness and stuff and I envy him for that. 3:
-He is probably one of the most personable artists on here.
-I think he's the only one of us on here who drew a fanart that made it as a guest strip on O&M. This is an accomplishment!

PSH, I'd pick Gandalf over Harry in a cage match.

Still, I must admit, it was quite good. I recently finished it too.

Sure, it seems like an alright book, but these dudes that queue for days to get these books must seriously, and I mean medically, be in want of a life.

Also, I just watched the last film and absolutly nothing bloody happens in it...it's just "Everyone thinks Harry's mad, oh no wait, turns out he was right"...lame.

I went with a friend to reserve his copy of the book and when they told him there was a pre-release party he promptly told them, "No thanks, I'll just pick it up the next day. D:"

I laughed so hard, right there in the store. I felt a bit evil, but I mean really. Some people are way into it. It's a BOOOOOOK.

HARRY POTTER MAY BE BETTER THAN THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
Well yeah. To be honest Lord of the Rings never held my interest. Harry Potter does. The end.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I see it. There are movies, books and whatnot that I'm anxious to read/get/whatnot. But I never waste my time waiting for them, I just acquire/watch/whatnot them when it's convenient.

It's not even like they're in short supply. Woolworths had loads of them on the shelves. There seems to be no conceivable reason to go at midnight to some book shop and pay some ridiculous price for a book you could buy from ASDA later that day for £4.99.

I know somebody who went to a release party :?

That was me guys. But only because a group of friends were going and they invited me.

I didn't even buy the book there though. I got at later at Wal Mart.

you can turn the book upside town, and your friends will say "You're reading that upside down..." when you really aren;t
That happened to a friend of mine the whole book was printed upside down, I believe it was A Separate Peace.
Anyway, looking back I find the writing isn't nearly as good as it seemed, now that I'm sixteen the writing is beginning to look very scratchy and 'off key' if you will. After the fifth book I just wanted to read the rest just to get to the end of the series, I've already made it this far (I've been reading the series since I was 9 or 10). I wouldn't go as far to say that it is better than the LotR, far from it in fact. But Tolkien can be very dry at times and I can understand the reason why many people are frustrated with the trilogy. In many respects The Hobbit is better when you really get down to it, a well done fairy tale.
Harry and the LotR have little in common and Harry would probably lead young readers to persue Earthsea (a series that I myself am interested in obtaining). Its an older series and does include magic being taught in a school like setting.

I'm only about 150pg into The Deathly Hallows and it definitely does hook you, which is the charm of the series. However, so far I find the writing unethusiastic and flat, with rather little feeling besides the arkward romantic factor (which isn't really orchestrated that well and to tell the truth that could just be because its not my cup of tea). The only action sequence seemed lackluster, it could have been much better, more exciting. It appeared in a quick clumsy fashion, rather than smoothly intergrated . Despite it being a surprise it could have been introduced better. Before I go into much of a rambling statement about the quality of the writing I shall go read some of the other topics, good day.

*CAOIMHIN'S POST IS WAY TOO LONG*
I just thought that I should be the first to scream...

WALL OF TEXT!11!1

Anyway, I finished the book... wow. That was really, really strange. In fact, I feel as if I understood nothing.

At least now I know that my previous guesses as to the 'purpose' of certain events, especially the final events of the 6th book, actually turned out to be true.

Looking back on it, that last sentence resembles nothing more than rambling because I was trying so hard to avoid spoilers...

Useless tiny text! Woohoo! 10110111
