The Pose (wallpaper)

Postby CodeCat » Sat Jun 30, 2007 3:43 pm

I found this one from an old attempt to make a wallpaper, and decided to finish it off. Once again in different sizes, and also 1280x800 on special request. :)

800x600
1024x768
1152x864
1280x800
1280x960
1280x1024
1600x1200
Furries? Are they the nutters that pretend to be animals and draw humans that look like animals? Christ, I sink my head into my paws... -Rooster

You people and your weird 16:10 aspect ratio resolutions...

Except Osprey, who I suspect is using a laptop (weird intermediate resolution...)

I'm the one who requested it, and I'm on a laptop too. :P

I suspect he's on a laptop, based on the fact that, while he has a 4:3 screen, he needs something in between 1280x960 and 1600x1200.

But yeah, only laptops and LCDs ever seem to go with 16:10 or 5:4 instead of 16:9 or 4:3. What is up with that, really?

The only thing I can think of is so they can make the laptops less square and more rectangular. Hmmm.

Other way around; it makes the laptops more square (because the width:height ratio approaches 1 more than the standard counterpart)

But but but my laptop screen is more rectangular than my desktop monitor.

I'm confused, because you're mathematically correct.

I am missing something.

You're missing the fact that you're comparing a "widescreen" to a non-"widescreen" one...

Your desktop monitor (assuming CRT) is 4:3; the corresponding LCDs and larger non-"widescreen" laptops are 5:4. Therefore, they are more square.

Similarly, the aspect ratio for HDTV is 16:9; based on your laptop's resolution, you're using 16:10. Once again, more square.

Actually, I'm on a 20.1" widescreen LCD. This is it's native resolution. I tried others but this is still the best.
