The Romancing of a Dragon and a Fox
I'm sure I'm not the only O&M reader who's been reading the strip for more than five years on a daily basis. There's lots of interesting little plot threads left here and there for DCS to pick back up and return to when desired.
One plot thread I'd really like to see explored more is the nascent romance between Ozy's dad and Millie's mom. A lot of readers I'm sure have "grown up" with the comic as it's changed over the years (not in terms of maturation, but in terms of moving along with the characters), much in the same way we "grew up" with the crew of ST:Next Gen or BtVS.
Are they together? Are they friends? Are they keeping it on the D/L from O&M so as not to mess up the friendship? I'm not looking for anything even PG-rated... I just want to know what's up, and maybe see what happens. Even if it's just addressed in two "Sunday" strips or a short two-to-three-day run.
Am I the only one?

In that case, you would post in the thread for today's strip, not make a new thread.
Not to mention one of the important rules for new forum goers (on any forum) is to NEVER make your first post a new topic. There are very good reasons behind this although I'm not quite sure what they are anymore now that I think about it.

Probably because when you're new, you don't know the rules yet. Not the rules like "no spamming, trolling, etc", because everyone knows not to do that (well, the sensible people anyway). I mean rules like "one topic per strip in the Comic Strips forum, and if you have a comment related to a particular thread, put it in the appropriate thread instead of making a new one". House rules, in other words.

Well, they kind of are dating. Didn't they have a romance arc the other month? I think it's good that David doesn't linger on it for too long, to return to the kids and their arcs.
(Please laugh at me if the arc was three quarters of a year ago or something absurd like that)

pants jesus
DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.
Well, the are dating, DCS said so I think. I can't tell you more about that.
But the title (and the ridiculously long time it took my computer to open the thread) made me think about it. "fox-dragon". It's an interracial dating, isn't it? Weren't reptiles the "black" people of Ozy and Millie (there was a reptilian segregation, right?).
I know O&M isn't a political strip, and I don't think DCS is trying to send any message (I know how characters can decide to start a relationship by themselves without the author having a choice :p). I was just thinking it's interresting.
I mean, in the US there are white people, and there are black people (and people who are neither white nor black but let's simplify it). If I take a figure, let's say, for instance, 40% of the people are black and 60% are white (yes, I'm making up the figures).
What should you logically see? For any 100 black people in a relationship, 60 of them should be dating/married to/ engaged to a white person. For any 100 white people, 40 should be dating/married to/ engaged with a black person.
I'm not American and I don't know the actual numbers, but boy, you never see it on TV. Even Friends, which had homosexuality from the 1st episode and a character pregnant with her brother's child, and other controversial storylines, didn't, as far as I remember, introduce a black/white dating until the last few seasons. In any movie, any series, when you see a black character and then their wife and kids, they're black too. Same for white people.
What's up with that? I mean, it's not illegal anymore, and logically it should happen a lot more than what's shown on TV. I know it does in Europe.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, but it's good to see that o&m depicts adoption, interracial relationships and counteraging pirates, which are all under-representated in today's media.

The percentage of Americans who are Black is more like 12%. I found this very surprising, but then, I live in the District of Columbia.
As to why interracial dating remains rare (and I'm proud of my sister for having done it a while), keep in mind that in the Lyndon Johnson administration, more than 90% of Whites wanted interracial marriage to remain illegal. Only four decades have passed since then, and while most people think it's fine in principle, relatively few associate strongly enough with other races to marry or even date them.
Incidentally, I watched the original Shaft last night. It includes a Hollywood rarity: two steamy sex scenes with a Black man, one of which is with a White woman.

Remember, the most important rule is that if you post something in the wrong place, people will treat it as a personal attack, and will do everything in their power to make sure you never forget what you've done, and that it haunts you for the rest of your days.
Also, I didn't think there was anything wrong with making your first post a new thread (mine was).
