Yeah it's a little self-centered.

Thanks guys! Now its about 9 hours and 47 minutes til race time. We might get a lot of rain in this race, but I've ran in the rain before, and it will be in the mid 60's so temperature isn't an issue. Better than last year, when it was in the upper 40s and raining.
I'll post the results here tomorrow!

Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

Yeah, OK, I wrote a big, lengthy post about the race not 15 minutes ago, but now it's not here anymore, and I don't feel like writing it again, so I'll do a quick wrap up.
I did a 46:18, 1:19 off of my original goal of under 45 minutes, but it was justified. It was a very hilly course in one spot; we went over a 70 foot tall viaduct TWICE. It was also in the mid 70s and very humid, the rain offering little relief. I haven't ran in conditions such as these in a long time, so I wasn't used to it anymore; it was kinda like a slap in the face. Finally, there was a strong southeasterly wind which killed me at the end when I had to run up hills against it.
Because of these conditions just about everyone did worse than they usually do. So I'm happy with by 46:18.
This landed be a spot in the overall field of 233rd out of 2973. And I got 4th out of 103 in my age group; yeah, no age group prize there, but its still a bloody good position if you ask me. But I guess it is a little frustrating that the 3rd place finisher came in 5 seconds before I did, aaaa!
Overall I'm pleased. I hope to do better at the Bayou City 10K coming up in 2 weeks.
