Geopolitics

I am happy to report that Mr. Simpson will be making new strips this month. A day that, needless to say, we've all been waiting for. Although I don't recall his promise of new material on this specific month.

But untill then...

The only aspect that I have to make an observation out of (I'm too excited to think about much else) is, if this flashback is from such a long time ago, then why isn't Captain Locke any older?

::does happy dance of new O&M strips:: Yay! New Strips!

Still no new illustrations for 2004 though. They'll probably come with the new strips.

Also, Dr. Fred, I was thinking about the same think about why Locke hadn't aged any since it was a while ago. Maybe it was only a year ot two ago and Locke didn't look too different. Most of the O&M characters looked different after the style change in 2000, but even though they aged 2 years according to DCS, they don't look any older.

Maybe it's from long ago but still close enough to be when Locke is still the same around the same age. Besides it's unlikely we'll see Locke (let alone the charcters in normal time) age unless a drawing style is changed. That's one of the basics of most comics.

Llewellyn knew Locke before he adopted Ozy (probably) so this could have happened before that and not (say) decades ago.
Well, Llewelyn introduced Locke to Ms. Mudd back when she was still in college and Ozy and Millie weren't even born yet, so Llewelyn and Locke kinda do have a history together. He was in is 20's back when he met Ms. Mudd, so for him to be a kid when this strip happened means it couldn't have been too long ago.

We've all known that Llewellyn has been known to exadurate things. perhaps 'long ago' was about two weks prior. If you remember, locke didn't have any problem with Llewelyln the times that he appeared beforehand in the older style.
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

Was this strip before or after the storyline revealing Locke and Ms. Mudd's past together?

Miyo! On page 375 it says "Jeebus"...
New strips! YESSSSS, we likes it, yes we does!

I also have realized that since Llewellyn introduced Locke to Ms. Mudd, he is indirectly responsible for Millie's existence, hence the strip's existence. Another dragon conspiracy revealed.

Maybe Locke is tired of a normal boat and would like an equestrianship.

Nah. Holding pony races on deck, maybe, amongst all the masts and sails? Even if he managed to rig a route around the rigging, with one racer the races'd be rigged.

Of course, the new horse would need not only food and water but also a place to sleep, and Locke's vessel is likely ill suited for such an accomodation. So, a stable would likely have to be installed, to some expense. Is Llewellyn expected not only to put down for the primary pony purchase, but as well to pony up for the purpose of putting in a pony inn?

The purpose of putting up a pony inn? Perposterous.
