Heh, and the percussion hitting all those notes at once, it's as if you've gone, "Hey, I need a big instrumental bang here.. uhh you, percussion, play all the notes from here up to here, kay?"
"Sure thing darl."
"I told you not to shpeak! *Slap!* Now play them beats!"
"Beat beat beat beat..."
Oh, yes. Those damn percussion sounds never shut up. I had to BRIBE them, in some instances.

Fun hints! The 5th movement will be heavily based on acoustic/maybe electric guitars, piano and flasy orchestrations.

Those are some very good midis. Saved all of them to my hard drive. My favourite one is Eclipse, the tune at the beginning is really catchy...

@ all: What is your favourite midi? Mine is "Aeris Theme" (source: http://www.vgmusic.com ).

I believe I've already expressed my opinion on these quite a few times, mainly in the chat room, but I'll say it again. You, Arloest, are an awesome composer. "Eclipse" is my favorite so far. You've inspired me to try making my own pieces.

Speaking of, I have downloaded the program you claimed to use to make these -- Anvil Studio -- and after attempting to make it do anything remotely useful I'm all the more impressed. I can't even figure out how to get the stupid help screen to disappear so I can see (and use) the whole Piano Roll Editor. *shrug*

I've tried Anvil Studio once and hated it.
NoteWorthy Composer is the best IMO.

I went ahead and tried NoteWorthy. Couldn't really figure it out. I think I'll stick with Anvil Studio. To each their own, I guess.

Anvil Studio'd be fine if only it had decent shortcut keys like NoteWorthy. Or maybe I just don't know them.

In NoteWorthy you move the cursor up, down, left, right to whatever position on the staff you want.
Enter to add a note there.
Space to add a rest there.
Numbers 1 to 6 change the length of the next note/rest you place or the highlighted notes/rests, doesn't work if they're different lengths though.
Numbers 7-9 add/remove accidentals to the next note/highlighted notes.
Backspace deletes the note/rest behind the cursor or whatever's highlighted.
C adds a clef.
G adds a time signature.
K adds a key signature.
T adds a tempo.
TAB adds a barline.
And a bunch of other ones...
NoteWorthy is very manual, you can have 17 semibreve notes in one bar in 4/4 time, it doesn't manage that stuff for you which is what I love about it.

Does Anvil Studio have shortcuts like that?
If it does I'd probably try using it again.

I use Open Modplug Tracker (OpenMPT) for my musical needs. I suppose it's a bit basic as far as programs go (at least relative to programs like Reason), and its midi support is a bit... 'dodgy' to say the least. But it has plenty of features to get some very good results out of it. :)

Audacity is the best *basic* editor out there IMO :-)

But Audacity isn't very useful for making a whole song, now is it?

Audacity has exactly 0% midi compatability with my experience...can't edit, can't make, can't export them. But you CAN make pure blasts of Hertz...and that's the basic unit of music, right?

Yeah, but making music like that is like building a house by gluing grains of sand together. :P
