Ozy's got an... odd habit of randomly shouting quotes, doesn't he?

Its probably environmental. His dad does give him a random book of quotes later on.

DCS did say that she liked to insert stuff like this to be more cultured than those comics making video game references.
A friend told me she though this strip was really sad, and I guess it is, but I didn't know it was when I was writing it. I think I was just reflecting on the fact that we'd lose something essential to the human (if you'll pardon the expression) experience if we artificially eradicated sadness.
That which does not kill me, cripples me for life.

I always assumed they were talking and Ozy just said the quote because he thought it made sense to the conversation or it was a particularly good nugget of wisdom.

Does that mean we might gain humanity by boosting sadness?

I like how Ozy isn't forced into making some sort of witty reply.

The way she gives him a blank stare seems to suggest otherwise.

Strikes me as a bit counter-intuitive to go out of your way to say "Hey I'm cultured!" by adding in really hamfisted references for the express purpose of proving how cultures you are. :?

But the blank stare is just a silent beat (is that the correct phrase?), she answers him afterwards.
