What would catagorize Nickelback as; country, or rock?

The first song I'll admit is sung in a voice modern country singers sing in, but how would anyone consider labeling nickelback as country?

I dunno. To me his voice sounds country but the band sounds like rock. That's why I lable them as a country rock group.

Either you mean "Southern Rock" but are just ignorant of the genre because you're not from the south or you are purposefully separating this from the obviously different and obviously fifty-times-better genre

I'm saying the singer sounds like he's singing country. I mean Drowning Pool is from the south but I don't consider it Southern rock.

i usually throw it in the "shit" pile, as opposed to the "not shit" pile. i'm pretty much apathetic about labeling music beyond that.

Allman Brothers are southern rock

it's a style, not a geographic location
