Someone hit my mom's PARKED car.

Someone hit my mom's PARKED car.

Lucky I did stay up because no one heard the huge crash that happened, apparently someone was driving very fast and hit my mom's car parked on the side of the road infront of the house. It went about 40ft down the street the wheel on the left side is on the neighbors yard on the RIGHT side.

More to the point, how's the insurance policy for this sort of thing?

Long ago, some drunk totaled our parked car and drove away. Good thing we were home and didn't need to hail a cab or anything. My parents then bought the only car we've ever gotten in a hurry, and it was junky as all get-out.

But people who hit parked cars aren't always stupid. Across the street from my house, someone simply blacked out at the wheel and damaged several cars. That would be stupid if she knew herself to have narcolepsy or something, but I don't think that was the case.

She might have been. I just give her the benefit of the doubt on whether she knew she was likely to black out when she decided to drive.

Something very similar happened to my aunt and uncle. They figure someone had a rather good time at the local bar just down the street, and then tried to drive home when it closed for the night.

I rode into a parked car once when I was on my bike, but the worst I did was break the wing mirror and my elbow.

Ouch, that sucks Caoimhin. Stupid hit-and-run drivers. Any leads as to who did it?

It was the butler, with the buick, in the parking lot.

I rode into a parked car once when I was on my bike
I did what with a car pulling out once, ah blissful youth  .

Yes, they did catch him, infact five people on the street called 911 apparently, and I had no clue what was going on. I thought the hamster cage fell and that it squealed. Then my dogs started barking I went outside once, thought I was having some weird, half-awake thing, then the neighbors lights went on, I went inside. I went back out two minutes later and the police and the neighbors were there, they said "Is this your car?" and well I'm basically "uh...Ye-maybe." Then I thought someone stole the car, I went inside woke up my dad who was basicaaly like, "Is it important?" Then he went outside and I went with him, we saw the car, two more police cars drove up, then an ambulance, then a firetruck, all in the span of five or ten minutes. The driver was pratically unharmed and climbed out of the car and was arrested, he was drunk and possible stoned. The other person was pinned, most likely by the dashboard with a pack of beer on his lap, he was taken away in an ambulance but nothing serious. Unfortunately my mom does not have collision insurance on her car, but my dad will probably sue the the driver. We can get some coverage but not nearly enough for a new car. Then my mom inlisted my help, so I had to go into her car to get out books and stuff, found that their were little shards of glass (very tiny), the entire back windshield was shattered so its understandable. I happened to have some gloves from biology class, used then after I found out about some leaking fluid. Got as much as we could, it was then carted away to the junkyard after I took pictures of the damage. This afternoon I found a package for cigar wrappings on the lawn which probably means the had pot or something. Unfortunately I picked it up, and it isn't much use for evidence at this point. The damage:

Edit: One sec photobuckets slow  .

Good good, I'm glad they got the driver. I'm pretty sure his insurance will have to pay for the damage, assuming he HAS insurance that is. I think your dad suing him is a good idea.

Eh, it might just be a state thing or something but it's illegal to drive without insurace for when you damage somebody else.

We have that for motor vehicles here. Quite frankly, it's the worst idea ever with outrageous car insurance rates.

Let's just hope the insurance company doesn't jip you for the cost of the repairs.
