Second Life stuff...

A place to talk about anything (that doesn't belong in the other forums).

May I ask Why you were against SL? (although I can't blame you.)

I wasnt against it. I cant get it (stupid credit card and age restrictions block that for the near future). And people kept talking about it.

See here's what you do,

You tell your parents you want it, but that the credit card is only for verification, and show them the free version. Sure you won't get much with the free version, but chances are, one of your parents will be ok with it.

Actually, when I signed up for Second Life a few days ago they didn't ask me for a credit card, phone number, anything. Just the regular registration details as you would find on any forum and I was good to go.

That's really weird. They ask you for credit card numberss in Teen SL, but not in Adult SL? Someone's logic is broken.

Okay.. too off-topic for the Funny IM thread. Looks like it's time to split the topic.

Anyway, yeah, the registration seems really mixed up to me too, but it's because they wanted to make it more accessible worldwide. Unfortunately, it has put the burden of identifying minors and banned members on the people in the SL grid instead of the registration process. Because of the outrage among concerned parents, the credit card verification was put back in place for the teen grid to keep adults out. I am not quite sure I understand how that works anyway, all things considered. :?

I've already stated how I feel about SL in the Antilia thread. For some reason, the discussion got a little in depth there.

I had refrained from mentioning Second Life in there, because there is extremely little I know about Antilia so I have no basis for comparison and also because I felt talking about other online worlds would detract from the discussion about that one.

Edit: Unfortunately, I had not caught up with that topic by the time I had done the topic split, and didn't realize that it was turning into a Second Life discussion before I could get there to stop it.
