Well, considering how the Soviets put loyalists in charge in Eastern Europe, I'd say that's dead on.
And America didn't 'encourage' leaders it could support in the west?

Saddam was in the East, not west.

Though, regarding people put into power by the US which turned out to be remarkably bad ideas, he wasn't the worst of them. -.-

Yeah I mean take a look at people we've supported in the past only to have them turn around and bite us in the but. Like Usama Ben Laden. I mean we supported him in the 80's now look at him. He's at the top of our kill list.
