Given the contents of some fairy tells, drugs are certainly a possibility.

This reminds me pretty strongly of a Calvin rant to his parents, taking something overly literal just to mess wit them. That's not bad by any stretch of the imagination; I like this strip.

Even when I was a kid, "and they lived happily ever after" struck me as a pretty implausible ending. I mean, so.. nothing bad ever happened to them again, and they never died?
That which does not kill me, cripples me for life.

True, magic potions are featured a lot in fairy tales, particularly those involving witches, sorcerers, etc.

Of course, in real life, drugs don't keep you happy forever, no matter how strong they are or how much you take of them. They lose their effect as you keep using them. Eventually you don't even get high anymore, but have to take them just to avoid feeling sick. Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones described that in a news article, when he decided to go into a drug rehabilitation program once he reached that latter stage.

I like Ms Mudd's suggestion that Millie would prefer it if they died.

Drugs, particularly shrooms, could very well be involved in some fairy tales. Probably in the way people came up with some of those messed up and/or otherworldy stories.
