Arr.

As far as language, I think we're all capable of coming up with something else to say instead of 'f' or 's.' I think the problem is with to what degree is swearing considered inappropriate. We all agree that f---, s---, and c--- should never be uttered here under ANY cirmumstances. The problem is that some words, like a--, b----, b------, "heck," "darn," etc. are considered acceptable some places and not acceptable in other places. We can say words like that on TV, sometimes even our schools don't concern themselves with such words, while others find the words just as offensive as the bigger curse words. So, we simply need to have it known which words we don't accept. The ones discussed in this thread, for example, should be avoided in order to keep the board family-friendly.

The best rule is: "If you even have to simply question the word, odds are you should not use it."

If I may say, I think that this should be one of the threads that we should really keep on topic, and only post if it's relavant. Sorry, but i think for a thread that's supposed to help set guidlines, talking about the random things that come up because of unintentional hijackings will dullen the point of the thread.

So... sorry, but if you post in here, keep it on topic.

Well, in reaction to this topic I think "Hell" is acceptable when used to talk about a geographical location, as in the underworld, or Hell, Michigan. Yes, Hell, Michigan is a real town. Look it up.

I'm not sure if I like the idea changing what people say like that. There just seems something morally wrong about it in a way. I mean, so far, we've done really well by just requesting that no one curse. And for any instances like, say, when BSP shoots off his nasty little mouth again () it can just be edited by the moderators. And, heavon forbid, they become a real problem in the boards then they can be kicked out.

That, and sometimes it just seems like a real appropriate time to use the "d" word, granted that you've got a "Gone With the Wind" type moment going for you.

<SteveThePocket> Geez. I want more of this stuff now. Now I know how a horny guy on an imageboard feels.
