mournful, dismal, or gloomy, esp. in an exaggerated or unrelieved manner

Would have been better if she tried to use it as every single part of speech in a desperate attempt to make sense. Regardless, I'm amused.

Not particularly famous today, but this play originated the word "malapropism".

I'm very much in favor of erudition, but I have little patience for people who pepper their conversation and writing with big words (like, say, "erudition") just to show they know them. Especially when they really don't.

The character of Mrs. Malaprop in the play I mentioned was meant to be that sort of person.
