I based this storyline on an incident involving my grandparents. They had just moved, and the Neighborhood Association at their new place gave them a hard time about planting flowers, in their completely fenced backyard, without permission. I am always on the lookout for stuff like that to write into the strip.

Neighborhood associates are genuinely horrible. We once got a letter from them stating there were simply too many leaves in our driveway once.

We don't get Neighborhood associations here in the UK, the very idea always made me go... so what they'll take you to court or something can't you just tell them to get lost it's not like you have any contact with them for living there after all.

I think you do have to sign a contract with them and pay dues. Depending on the neighborhood association in question it may be worth it or not. Some are very helpful and maintain shared property. Others are just a hassle.

People usually have contact with their neighbours don't they?
