So maybe I just missed it or something but I don't remember M:tG getting a whole lot of advertisements outside of magazines dedicated to card games. This seems like a really odd insert into this already poor arc.

(I agree with what somebody said in one of the earlier installments; we've seen both of them in the middle of the woods before. If they want to find an unspoiled spot, just walk out there and sit by the river or something. That would have even been a nice ending to this arc, where they have a discussion and then the final panel shows them out where everything is pristine nature. Would have been a sight better than what we do get for an ending...)

As a half-assed ex-MtG player I have to say that Circle of Protection: Brain Eating can be easily undone by a Shatter or Dispel Enchantment card.
Do people still play "Magic: The Gathering"? One of the disadvantages of being done with school forever is, you tend to fall out of touch with every segment of pop culture that doesn't immediately interest you. And it's interesting, at least to me, knowing what other people are up to.

I remember being very entertained by the irony in the punchline.

This one is about how something that doesn't actually get advertised or seen as cool is still as commercial as anything else. Being a nerd can be just as bad as being a slave to trends.

If you have bought anything ever, you're part of the problem.

Steal everything you want. If you buy it you're just supporting evil capitalist overlords.
