Bullies, bullies, bullies... after he says that, you're supposed to
pound him. This isn't hard!

Oh man, those bullies sure are evil. Always picking on the smart people. I bet after this they will high five, play sports, and other stereotypical behavior.

even looking at this as an early strip, where there are a lot more extra characters than the established (and clothed) cast later on, I still think it's weird that the koala is wearing NOTHING but a hat. Timulty's the only kid who looks natural to me in the nude, because he's so small.
It probably also has to do with the fact that if you only saw the first panel, you might think Ozy's tail was supposed to be blocking naughty bits.

This.
"Look, kid, nobody likes wearing pants in public, but it's the law!"

I think it's because he's only wearing a hat. It works for Ozy because he also has the waistcoat, it works for Timulty because he's just unclothed, but the red panda is wearing a hat, and only a hat, so it draws your attention to the fact that he's only wearing a hat, especially when everybody else in the scene is obviously wearing more than just hats. If he's just put on a shirt, or even just not put on the hat, it wouldn't have been an issue at all.
Does look like Ozy's tail is covering up the dangly bits, though...

I always thought DCS' depiction of extroverts was biased and unrealistic. I liked this one at the time but soon thought it silly.

Just wearing a hat makes you look worse then being nude

Really. DCS is always subtle and fair.
First appearance of Jeremy? He gained a lot of weight later and started putting black stuff under his eyes.

Also, unless Jeremy has been held back for several years he looks awfully old for grade school, not only because of his size but his long ears (babby rabbits have short ears.)

I love how the text for the stupid bullies is neater than the normal comic text.
