Another comic ripped wholesale from Calvin and Hobbes. Ozy's completely unamused expression in panel 2 is pretty funny, though. It's like he wants to hurt her for making a terrible joke.

I like the clutter of characters we can see here a few extras and even a character that will migrate into a strip of itself.
Besides you don't keep severed heads in formaldehyde, you keep severed HANDS in fromaldehyde, keeping a head in it won't work well at all.
This by the way much like lemonade stall doesn't resonate with me, obviously we are doing things wrong here in the UK but i've never had a show and tell at school.
Perhaps our lessons are just more structured

I never did either. Show and tell strikes me as an American thing. Anyway, I'm glad I never had to endure show and tell. I don't know what I'd bring to have a bunch of semi-strangers gawk at. The damp cloth I'd suck at to drink something? The rotting fish dumped all over us as we went to the water tank in the rubbish tip? The half a handful of freezing cold gravel we ate for a meal? Bloody whippersnappers, you try telling them how happy you were because you were poor and they won't believe you, and furthermore - GET OFF MY LAWN!

I think show and tell is actually one of those things that occurs more in fiction then in real life.

Back in elementary school, we had a kind of a show and tell, but it was entirely voluntary and it pretty rarely came up; the only things I specifically remember from it was showing off my new set of chess pieces (they're from one of those fancy sets, where all the pieces are carved pewter dragons and medieval figures and such-- really neat lookin') and my friend's new puppy.
I'm sure, once in a distant ancient time, the practice was more prevalent, but I'm pretty sure that was before we had electricity.

Usually when a kid in America gets a new dog they want to bring it to show and tell but all of the parents/teachers think "oh jesus I hope we can convince him/her otherwise"

He was only there for about a half hour. 'round the appointed time, his mother came and visited the class. We all got to interact with the puppy for a bit, and then she took the puppy back home.

Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht
ich bin die Stimme aus dem Kissen
ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht
hab es aus meiner Brust gerissen
I dunno. I was reminded of this song when I read this.

see, thats how you capture the nature of a character, both in dialogue and art, and i pray to god this particular strip never gets pillaged by "girl"

I had a show and tell once. It was in year 4 and we were all a little too old for it so it was terribly awkward.

Really? 'Cause I once said the opening line in German class and My German teacher translated as "Now dear Children pay close attention. "
This is what I thought it translated to.
Now Dear Children pay close attention
I am the voice from your pillow
I have brought you something.
I have ripped it out of my chest.

My grammar schools in Texas did, in fact, have Show and Tell; I mean, we stopped it by second grade, but it did exist for a time for me. there would be rock collections, leaf collections, one stamp collection, treasured stuffed animals, etc. It was exactly what fiction depicts when not trying to be funny or wacky.
