It's KNUCKLES. Plural. The possessive would have the apostrophe after the S, not before.
Just FYI.

Meh, just joking. Thanks, Tom. It has been ruthlessly edited for your viewing pleasure.
Enjoy.

Dr. Robotnik has always been known as Dr. Eggman in Japan, and since Sonic Adventure, is Dr. Eggman in America and Europe too.
So
there. And this strip is great

Actually, I prefer to call him Robotnik as well. (Especially considering my fanfic uses the very serious SatAM version of Mobius.) Thing is...if I called him that in this string, no one would have gotten the joke.

Apparently he's eggman because a spoiled egg made him turn evil. Possibly a true story perhaps.

Correction:
Dr. Ovi Kintobor was working on a device called the Retro Orbiting Chaos Converter, or R.O.C.C. for short. It used the power of Chaos Emeralds as a means to try to extract and contain evil from everywhere.
While working on this, a brown hedgehog named Sonic appeared in his workshop...who eventually became friends with Dr. Kintobor and even helped with his experiements. During one experiment in particular in which Sonic helped him test a speed machine, Sonic's super speed caused the machine to break down. It also caused his quills to fuse and turn blue as a result of what Dr. Kintobor called the "cobalt effect".
One fateful day, Dr. Kintobor was finishing the R.O.C.C. and Sonic had brought him in a drink and a hard boiled egg for nourishment. However, an accident caused the drink to splash on the R.O.C.C., turning Dr. Kintobor into the evil Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik.
This storyline is considered the beginning for both the game series as well as the Fleetway comic series.

And here I thought the unusual quill color was arbitrary, and that "Eggman" was simply a reference to his body shape.

The unusual quill color is actually the result of a poll that Sega hosted where they asked what would be the coolest color for an echidna to be. Pollsters overwhemingly chose mauve so Sega said "screw you. Its going to be blue. And a hedgehog. Whatever that is."
