Define Cynical Fan Forums

Hypothetical situation: DC upgrades its forum software to phpBB3. This is what I see it being like:

Pros:
- Nick gets to have more fun in his control panel
- Much better tools for moderators (because they have so much work to do here)
- Attachments for posts (you can actually upload pictures)
- Enhanced functionality for polls and PMs and etcetc
- Custom titles, other profile fields (some members wanted this I recall)
- You can leave and come back to the forum without it clearing all your unviewed posts, leaving you sad and disoriented about where you left off.

Cons:
- Only the default phpBB theme(s) is/are available, leaving DC boring and generic looking (nobody wants to port our existing custom themes or create new ones)
- Greatly increased probability of spambots
- Some moderation tools no longer available
- More work for me

I personally don't think it's worth it. What are your thoughts on it?

I use the boring theme anyway, so this doesn't effect me. Taking everything into account, I just say "Yes". I honestly don't care either way though.

I say it's worth it for this alone. It's such a hassle to have to upload my shit to Photobucket first... okay, not really, but damn that would be a nice feature.

How hard could it be to port the themes anyways? I've done it for vBulletin.

Do it. It's only an upgrade to our current phpBB system. But, i still want this O&M DC theme in the new version.

Shouldn't be too much of a problem to port at least some of the theme. Enough to be distinct.

I'm all for the change so long as I don't notice it. If I do, I get nostalgic and start setting fire to things.

I'd like to be able to keep at least some parts of the theme avaliable, like the top hat and duck icons.
