If anyone wants to make some new emoticons for use on this forum, please do. O&M themed, or otherwise.

The default icons here are on phpbb are 15px by 15px, and for good reason. Icons that size cause minimal displacement of lines of text. Those are some good general guidelines to follow but I know that is not a lot of space to work with. 20px by 20px should be perfectly fine as well. Icons bigger than that will be negotiable.

I'll be bringing back our beloved wagging tail icon and some others soon, so there shouldn't be any reason to resubmit old ones.



Fanart Gallery Admin:

I'm trying to restore as many of the features of the old Define Cynical as I possibly can. Unfortunately, I can't be everywhere at once and I don't have all the time in the world. If someone would like an ongoing opportunity to help manage this site, I'd be glad make someone the admin our new fanart gallery. I'm looking toward something similar to the "Stuff" section of the old DC. The new admin will be in charge of building it and managing content. Once you design the initial layout it should be pretty low maintenance. If this is something you'd like to do, send me a private message. Knowledge of html is required.



Extra Skins:

For those of you who might get sick of silver and babby blue forum skins (and I don't blame you one bit), I can gladly install alternatives. Point me in the direction of a phpbb skin you want to be installed and I will, so long as it's compatable.

If you have the know-how and the patience, I encourage you to make your own. Either mod from the subSilver theme or from the official DC one (I can release it for modding when it's complete). A dark theme and possibly a theme with warm-tones would be a nice switch.

If you modify subSilver or DC, please only send me the files that have been altered or added.



Search Database:

Now this thing isn't super important but... if you are adept at MySql and general programming and somehow have a lot of time on your hands, you can go right ahead and fix the search database (the search function isn't working too well if you haven't noticed). I can give you all of the post information from the database, and I'll give you exclusive rights to the search database. If you want to give it a try, send me a private message about it.



Link Button:

This is the button existing in the top right corner new DC forum skin.


It's nice but does not fill the space well. It is too wide, causing the skin to be incompatible with users running on 800x600 resolution. I won't consider it a serious problem until I get a complaint about it. However, if anyone wants to make a new button similar to this one, I think 108px by 68px would be the ideal dimentions for it, and I'll gladly replace the current one.

I'd be willing to admin the artwork/stuff section. I'm generally logged in only 2-3 times a week, but if thats sufficient, then by all means.

Try using < center > instead of < p align="center" >

You might be able to do it by changing the "Allow HTML" from no to yes in your preferences page.

Hey, you wanted a sample skin, right?

Oh, and yes, you do need it on a server to play with, unless you actually know what you're doing. Here's a server you can install (or, y'know, you can use IIS instead), PHP (which is required), and a database (also required, though you can use MS Access if you don't want to install this thing).

IceDragon, the best thing to do is to get a free web site account -- I would recommend Atspace -- and try installing PHPBB on it. I put one on my site just for test purposes, and it's pretty easy to work with. Personally the best bet for creating a skin that has custom placement of items is to look at the skins you can download from the PHPBB site, download one that positions things more or less right, and just change the colors/draw new images.
