I notice that the icons on most of the threads are hot topics (red envelopes) and few are open topics (ruber ducky, ernest.) I asume that they all start out as open topics but become hot topics once they obtain a vast amount of posts. But it seems to me that a "vast amount of posts" is not all that much by the standards of these icons.

I mean, look at the menu for most of these forums. Their almost all hot topics! It sort of diminishes the icons' meaning when you can't tell which ones are really hot topics. I think the standards of these things should be changed. It shouldn't really be a hot topic untill a thread at least makes it to page two. What's your thoughts?

What's the hot-topic limitation now? 50-ish posts?

I would think 42. After all it is the answer according to Douglas Addams.
