Manc has just made this the topic of the #definecynical chatroom: http://definecynical.mancubus.net || MancuNET 100 Day uptime celebration - READ: http://forum.mancubus.net/viewtopic.php ... >

I suggest everyone read the topic on the Mancubus.Net Forum right away.

Quote: (MancuNET Admin)

Ok, maybe not EXACTLY, but as you can see by the counters on the main site here, the 2 linux servers are nearly at 100 day uptimes. To commemorate this wonderful occasion, I'm going to be taking them offline! Makes sense doesn't it?

<...>

Yay for scheduled downtime. Or something... Do we know when they'll be shutting them down and for how long?

Perhaps we need to consider setting other lines of communication. When DC went down for a long time last spring, the first people to come back were the ones that visited the IRC channel and the ones that kept in touch with them via some instant messenger or other direct contact info.

On that note, I invite people to browse profiles for instant messaging addresses so it'd be possible to communicate even when everything else is down.

Anyone can see my messenger contact information by clicking on my profile.

In either messenger case you actually have to add me (and I have to approve) in order to converse with me. I do this for security reasons.

Dont be afraid to add me though... I won't bite.... much.

Ha ha, perfect timing! I'll be away from my computer all weekend anyway. But yeah, being down on Talk like a Pirate Day...that stinks.

Arrrrr, MancuNet be ripe fer plunderin', sez I! Avast the poop decks and hard a port, let's go find that mizzen mast!

I know, that's terrible. But chances are I won't ever get to do that again.
